Management

Scott Bready

Managing Director

 

Scott’s career has centred on the improvement of New Zealand’s state highway infrastructure.  He has been involved in the delivery of multiple sections of the Waikato Expressway and the procurement of several other roads of National Significance.  He has led teams responsible for the investigation and specimen design of several major state highway improvement projects, and is Engineer to the Contract on multiple contracts being administered by BBO.  Scott is an NZTA-qualified tender evaluator, and an NZTA-accredited Engineer to the Contract (Level 3) and Engineer’s Representative (Level 3).

Scott has worked for BBO for over 20 years.  He has been a Director of the company since 2007 and became Managing Director in 2018.

John Olliver

Director

 

John Olliver holds the position of Director within BBO and brings 36 years experience to the planning and resource management department. He has completed a Bachelor of Arts, a Diploma of Town Planning and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies, and has key interests in major project consultation and consenting, planning policy, and urban design.

John is a planner of prominence in the Waikato region, with a reputation for delivering results on major projects through effective consultation and strategic application of statutory processes.

Tony Keyte

Director

 

Tony Keyte joined BBO in 2000 and while managing the Civil and Traffic engineering divisions, he became a Director in 2011. He brings 28 years Civil experience to BBO, therefore enabling efficient and well designed solutions to any project requirements.  Tony is a chartered professional engineer in civil and traffic engineering.

The high regard in which BBO’s clients hold Tony stems from his record of overcoming technical challenges on major infrastructure projects.

Tony has the ability to manage large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality, integrated designs within demanding time frames.  Tony’s skills include highway design, transportation engineering, pavement design, traffic engineering and geometrics.  His expertise extends to understand stormwater, wastewater and water design.

Pang Chong Heng

Director

 

Pang Chong Heng (Pang) is a Director of BBO and heads BBO’s structural engineering team after working for BBO since 2005 and a related company in Singapore since 1989.  He holds undergraduate and postgraduate engineering degrees from Singapore, and has achieved registration as a Professional Engineer in Singapore and CPEng status in New Zealand .  His background includes the design of the first major suspension bridge in Singapore and involvement with design of the barrage at Marina Channel to provide flood control and to retain fresh water, and latterly a series of bridges of various types in New Zealand.  His primary interest and passion is the design of bridge and heavy engineering structures.

Graeme Jamieson

Principal Structural Engineer

 

Graeme Jamieson graduated from the University of Canterbury with an honours degree in civil engineering in 1974, and has held New Zealand professional registration since 1978. He has worked for BBO since 1996 after working in related companies in New Zealand and Singapore since 1988.  His leadership of BBO’s structural engineering section has now transitioned to a support-oriented role.

Graeme’s experience includes the design of conventional buildings of all types, bridges, and other civil engineering structures. Bridge engineering has been a primary focus of his recent experience, reflecting BBO’s workload patterns. Bridge engineering also represents a particular personal interest, as does the appropriate modelling of soil-structure interaction.

Harrison Wilson

Structural Engineer

 

Harrison graduated from the University of Canterbury with an honours degree in civil engineering during the Christchurch earthquakes.  His past experience includes the engineering design, seismic assessment and construction of predominately building structures.  He is now part of the structural team at BBO, with a focus on bridge engineering.

Charlotte joined BBO’s structural team in 2008, since when her willingness to expand her horizons and responsibilities has resulted in extension of her base drafting workload.  Extensions include technical and cost inputs to contract documents; liaison with Building Consent authorities; and management of communications with the various parties involved in Design & Construct projects.

Tina joined BBO in February 2017 after 6 years civil and structural engineering design experience with an engineering consultancy in China.  Her educational qualifications have been assessed by NZQA as equivalent to a Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree in Civil Engineering, and she is a graduate member of IPENZ.

Ray completed a 4-year degree in Landscape Architecture in China prior to moving to New Zealand.  He subsequently completed an New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) qualification in Civil Engineering prior to joining BBO in February 2017.

Sophia Wu

Senior Structural Engineer

 

Sophia a Structural Engineer from China, where she worked in a transportation engineering consulting institute.  Sophia tasks were mainly engaged in the design of the structures on different grades of highways, such as bridges, culverts, underpasses, and overpasses.  As a Design Engineer or a Team Leader, Sophia participated in the planning survey and design of more than thirty various large scale highway design projects.  In 2017 Sophia completed a Master of Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury. At BBO Sophia is part of the Structural team working as Senior Structural Engineer.

Andy Ngiew

Structural Engineer

 

Andy a Engineer form Singapore, where he worked in one of the biggest local contractors  as a Planning Engineer. Andy’s work required full understanding of Client’s requirements and constantly liaised with Consultants and Subcontractors.  Having a great passion in Structural Design motivated Andy to have a career change. At BBO Andy is part of the Structural team undertaking structural design; identifying aspects requiring input from other technical experts and liaising with them to complete the project design; preparing technical specifications and contact documentations.

Ivan Kottaiya

Isla graduated from the University of Canterbury during the Christchurch earthquakes and gained construction experience early in her career as part of SCIRT.  Now she is working alongside the contracts engineer overseeing major roading and civil projects.  Isla also volunteers for Engineers without Borders overseeing ventures around the pacific.

BBO is Deena’s first employer since her graduation from the University of Auckland in 2016.  She is currently working on the Huntly Expressway Project as a Site Engineer, with a particular focus on the Environmental and Cultural Mitigation components of the project.

After graduating from the Waikato Institute of Technology, Ryan began his civil career in River Management and Flood Protection engineering, gaining experience in both Civil and Environmental disciplines.  Ryan joined BBO’s MSQA team in early 2016 as a Site Representative on the Huntly section of the Waikato Expressway, assisting with construction oversight, with a focus on environmental compliance.

Amitesh Prasad

Amitesh has 10 years of experience in the civil engineering industry, starting his career as a young engineering cadet for a local government body and progressing through the cadetship programme, later moving into construction.

He has worked on a range of civil projects as a Project/Site Engineer involving three waters, road construction and maintenance, structures and subdivision works.  Amitesh is currently completing his Bachelor studies part-time.

Mark’s 8 years’ experience in civil engineering consultancy industry has seen him working on both sides of the Tasman, and progressing from cadet to Engineer’s Representative and Project Management roles.  His experience is broad, ranging from involvement in the Transport Agency’s South Conterbury Network Management contract; topographical and engineering surveys; gemoetric design; and construction oversight of civil engineering works. Mark will again be responsible for construction oversight, primarily on projects being delivered under the Safe Roads Alliance.

Jeremy Gibbons

Principal Project Manager

 

Jeremy started at BBO in November 2017, bringing 20 years technical experience and knowledge gained in undertaking both design and investigation management roles for large-scale transport infrastructure projects in New Zealand, Australia, and Malaysia. Over the last few years Jeremy has had great success in leading large multi-disciplinary teams on highly complex roading projects, with a combined construction value in excess of $1B.

Jeremy’s engineering skills have been recognised through his receipt of the 2014 NZ RICS Professional Services Team of the year for his role as Team Leader on the Waikato Expressway Cambridge Section. In 2016 Jeremy recieved the NZ Transport Agency’s “Going the Extra Mile” (GEM) Award for the Safety in Design (SiD) process undertaken on Huntly Section of the Waikato Expressway.  In addition, Jeremy was the runner-up NZ Young Engineer (2009), as part of the IPENZ Engineering Excellence Awards.

At BBO Jeremy is part of the civil team, where he undertakes management of civil engineering projects, including team leadership, design management and general project management.  He also provides technical support and advice to design related projects, and mentoring and coaching of design staff to assist in their duties and help enhance delivery of their projects.

Transportation Engineering

Cameron Inder

Transportation Engineering Manager

 

Cameron Inder completed a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours and has 17 years’ experience in transportation planning and design of state highway, urban arterial and rural road networks, as well as traffic signals and urban intersection design.  Cameron frequently consults with the New Zealand Transport Agency and Local Authority on behalf of clients wishing to access roads, or develop land.

Cameron prepares and peer reviews Integrated Transport Assessments (ITA) and Traffic Impact Assessments for resource consent applications, and frequently provides evidence as an expert transportation engineering witness at resource consent hearings.  In addition, Cameron has experience providing traffic effects evidence at the Environment Court.

Cameron actively attends Traffic Model User Group conferences both in New Zealand and Australia, and training / seminars on traffic modelling packages SIDRA, VISSIM and LINSIG to be fully conversant with the software.

Wagner Hawthorne

Senior Water Resource Engineer

 

Wagner joined BBO in late 2018 coming from Brazil where he had been working with the design of urban infrastructure projects, land development projects, and Sanitation Master Plans.  Which encompasses assessment of existing conditions and proposal for improvements, for water supply, wastewater collection, stormwater management and solid waste disposal.   More recently working in a redevelopment project of a degraded area, which involved designing stormwater and wastewater reticulation systems and improvements to water supply network, as well as designing streets and paving in surrounding roads.  The two big drainage projects involved design of approximately 300 km of stormwater reticulation system and 7 detention basins. At BBO Wagner is a Senior Water Resource Engineer in the Water Resource Engineering team.

Constantinos Fokianos

Water Resource Engineer

 

Constantinos’ study at the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece resulted in twin Masters-level engineering degrees, a general civil engineering degree in 2003 and a specialist hydraulic engineering degree in 2005.   Before joining BBO in 2017 Constantionos amassed 12 years consultancy experience in the design of water, wastewater, stormwater and drainage systems, with his role evolving from designer to design team leader and project director.  During this period he also achieved recognition from multiple professional bodies including Membership of the Technical Chamber of Greece and registration at the Greek Design Engineers Association.  His academic and professional credentials and prior experience combine to make Constantinos a key player in BBO’s water resource team.

Sam graduated from the University of Auckland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Planning with honours and a Master of Urban Design with honours in 2017.  His past experience in the Hamilton city planning team on a range of policy projects included a review of Hamilton’s District Plan – notification to appeals.  He is now part of the planning team at BBO working on a range of projects including plan changes and a variety of land use and subdivision consents.

Stuart comes to BBO with over 15 years of experience in the planning profession with time spent in both local government and the private sector, most recently with Auckland Transport.  Stuart’s focus is on large scale multi-disciplinary projects with complex statutory approvals and consultation requirements.  Stuart is also accomplished in working with development clients and managing structure planning, plan changes and consenting requirements for the full range of development projects from 2 lots to 2500 lots. At BBO Stuart is a Senior Planner in the planning team working on consenting for large infrastructure projects and Plan Changes and resource consents to support development.

Bernie Milne

Survey Manager

 

Bernie Milne is the survey manager at BBO. He has a Bachelor of Surveying Degree and is a full member of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors and a Licenced Cadastral Surveyor.

Bernie has been involved in the subdivision and development of land for many years and has experience with small sites, through to large industrial developments. Bernie has a collaborative approach and works hard to make the subdivision and development process as smooth as possible.

Bernie previously owned Focus Surveying, a Hamilton based surveying consultancy, but integrated with BBO in 2007 when the opportunity for expansion became evident. This enables a full service consultancy within BBO, where clients are able to receive all of their land development requirements in one place.

When graduating from the Waikato Institute of Technology Gareth moved to Christchurch and worked as a structural technician as part of the Christchurch rebuilds.  Since joining BBO in 2013 he has developed an in-dept knowledge of the High Productivity Motor Vehicle Permitting process, worked on the NZTA Rangiriri Section of the Waikato Expressway as a Site drainage Engineer and now is a Civil Site Engineer overseeing Civil Construction Projects throughout the Waikato.

Jennifer Dabney

Civil Engineer

 

Jennifer Dabney completed a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil) Degree through the University of Southern Queensland in 2013. Previously, she attended surveying related courses in NZ and completed civil engineering / surveying papers at the University of Tennessee, USA. She specialises in processing easements on behalf of WEL Networks and completes a majority of the LandOnline work for the BBO survey division. In addition, she participates in general surveying field work, data capture for subdivisions and relevant projects, and is currently obtaining further skills in stormwater engineering.

Ian’s expertise within the surveying profession includes producing topographical surveys, redefining boundaries, volume calculations, construction and road set out, and other surveying related disciplines.

Tom started working in Taupo as a surveyors assistant in 2006, moving back to Hamilton in 07, learning survey, drafting, and eventually computer aided design.  The last six years has seen Tom take on various tasks such as road, drainage and infrastructure design, as well as contract, quantities and scheduling management, and management 3d earthworks design mainly in 102d.  In the last 5 years he has obtained a diploma in engineering (highways).  Tom is proficient in CAD, 12d and capable in MX, assisting the survey and civil department with various aspects of civil projects.

Johan joined BBO late 2017 after completing his diploma in Civil Engineering.  Johan has been involved with survey and design assistance from a range of projects including the Titanium Park and VISY development,  Traver Rd development and other projects.  Johan has also completed his own design for the new recreation/events area at the Hamilton Gardens, the Governors Green project.  Johan looks forward to his future projects with land development as part of the Surveying team at BBO.

Joseph has been involved with traffic management across New Zealand for the past 11 years in various roles from an onsite TC to 2/3P, branch supervisor through to branch manager.  Prior to starting at BBO in December 2018 Joseph was a project traffic manager for Waikato Expressway Hamilton Section.  Joseph has a passion around making TTM simple and training the teams to show what simple looks like.  This results in a safe site not only for the workers on the road but everyone that passes through the site.  At BBO Joseph is working with the H&S team delivering the Safe Roads programme accross New Zealand to make the roads safer for all the people travelling around New Zealand.
