Chris Dawson

Chris graduated from Waikato University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Resources and Environmental Planning.  He joined BBO in 2001, after six years working at Waikato District Council as Consents Planner. Chris is a full member of the NZ Planning Institute and is a MfE Certified Planning Commissioner.

Chris has a strong background in preparing and processing all forms of consents and excels in project managing large consenting and policy development projects. His experience has included significant infrastructure projects such as the Huntly Section of the Waikato Expressway, the Te Uku Windfarm project, and several aggregate extraction and landfill projects. Chris has managed the preparation of various structure plans within the greater Waikato, most recently focusing on large scale residential master planning at Temple View (Hamilton) and the Hopuhopu redevelopment near Ngaruawahia for Waikato Tainui. He is currently involved in the Waitara to Bell Block safety improvement project for Waka Kotahi which involves an upgrade of 12 km of existing state highway including improved intersections and stormwater management with a strong emphasis on partnerships with Te Atiawa and New Plymouth District Council. 

Chris has also developed an expertise in stakeholder engagement working with communities and tangata whenua and has used this skill to good effect to procure challenging consents with full stakeholder involvement.
