David Nelson

David joined BBO in March 2021 as a Project Manager and quickly established himself as a vital member of BBO’s Project Delivery team. His exceptional commitment to project delivery, a focus on high-quality, ensuring client satisfaction, and a passion for team support and development, now sees David as Regional Leader, Bay of Plenty office. 

With international accreditation as a Project Management Professional (PMP), David’s approach is one of genuine collaboration with all stakeholders and the management of political interfaces to achieve ‘best for project’ outcomes and the development of positive, long-term client relationships.  

David has over 30 years’ experience as a civil engineer with an accomplished track record managing the delivery of infrastructure projects across road, land development and railway. His experience spans client advisory services, feasibility and options assessments, design management, statutory approval processes, procurement, construction management, risk management and close-out phases of projects for both private and public sector clients.  

KiwiRail recognised David’s project management skills when they seconded him to their Project Management Office from 2013 to 2017 to manage the replacement of over 20 railway bridges. More recently David managed a $26M Waka Kotahi funded nationwide programme of level crossing safety upgrades and is presently leading a $90M multi-stage project to construct an interchange over the Tauranga Eastern Link motorway with associated local arterial roading.
