Gareth joined BBO in April 2013 after a decade in the construction industry across New Zealand, Australia, and England. Since then, he has held a range of engineering roles at BBO, including Waikato High Productivity Motor Vehicle Permit Officer, Site Engineer, Engineer’s Representative, and Civil and Land Development Engineer. While working full-time and having a young family, Gareth achieved a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Waikato, graduating with First Class Honours - a testament to his dedication, time management and work ethic. 

Gareth now leads BBO’s Land Development team, and manages small to large-scale land development projects, providing leadership across design, project delivery, and stakeholder coordination. He is known for his pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, combining deep industry knowledge with strong technical capability to deliver cost-effective outcomes. Gareth has built trusted relationships with clients, consultants, and councils, and is skilled in navigating all project phases from master planning and consenting, to detailed design and construction.

His expertise spans project and design management, civil design, feasibility studies, project estimation, civil technical specifications and procurement documentation. Gareth is proficient in tools such as AutoCAD and 12D and has a strong command of roading and landform geometrics, as well as the complex integration of three waters and earthworks design.
