John Olliver

In 1993, John founded BBO along with Martin Bloxam and Reece Burnett, and was a director until March 2021. He managed the planning team from 1993 to 2013 when he moved into the role of managing director through to 2018. John is also a MfE accredited Commissioner.  He is now based in the Tauranga office.

John’s 40 years of experience as a planner covers a wide range of strategic planning, district and regional planning and consenting. Key major project experience includes notices of requirement and consenting for the Huntly, Mercer to Long Swamp and Ngaruawahia sections of the Waikato Expressway, and the Hamilton Airport runway designation. He has been instrumental in several major strategic planning projects including the rezoning  of land for Titanium Park Business Park at Hamilton Airport, Te Awa Lakes mixed use development at Te Rapa north, and the Sleepyhead Estate development at Ohinewai.

In 2018 John received the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Property Council of New Zealand, Waikato Branch.
