Infrastructure Engineering

A forward-thinking and innovative approach by BBO’s Infrastructure Engineering team has seen the successful delivery of many major projects throughout New Zealand.

The geometric design of transport corridors is one of BBO’s core infrastructure services. This encompasses the design of major state highway projects, local council and land development networks, and roading access for developments such as wind farms.

Design infrastructure services are also provided for:

  • Pavements
  • Intersections
  • Road safety improvements
  • Urban mobility facilities
  • Carparks
  • Earthworks
  • Erosion and sediment control devices
  • Stormwater, water, and wastewater reticulation, including pump stations

The Project Delivery component of BBO’s Infrastructure team is all about making stuff happen. The team’s many years of collective project experience provide direction and ensures a focus on project delivery. The Project Delivery team is typically the ‘front-face’ for the delivery of our infrastructure projects, and provides an integral link between the client and the wider BBO team. The team specialises in providing project and design management but also has specialist skills in project procurement, cost estimation, programming, and business case development.

The Infrastructure team also includes Operational Processes support – a young team highly praised by our clients and rapidly building a solid reputation for efficiency and quality outputs. The team is all about working smarter, building consistency, regulatory compliance, and developing evidence-based processes and programme outcomes.

The Operational Processes team has developed a solid knowledge of transport funding policies through the delivery of the State Highway Corridor Maintenance Memorandum of Understanding for Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency with local road controlling authorities. The team also contributes to the improvement of state highway corridor access; land use and road user customer interaction management processes; and specialises in supporting streamlined processes by assessing, evaluating, mapping, trialling, implementing, and measuring smarter practices.

BBO’s infrastructure team is highly regarded within the industry, and with a diverse skillset and a wide range of experience and knowledge, the team provides cost-effective quality designs and solutions to any project specification across the full lifecycle of a project from strategic case to construction.

Professional affiliations include Engineering New Zealand and a range of other national and international bodies.
