BBO’s Structural Engineering team has extensive experience in the successful delivery of the structural engineering component of a diverse range of technically challenging projects throughout New Zealand and Asia. The design of bridges and other civil engineering structures is a core strand of BBO’s business, typically integrated with BBO’s infrastructure and planning resources to provide clients with a seamless ‘one-stop-shop’. BBO’s recent structural engineering involvement has been dominated by bridges and wind farm foundations but has also included industrial structures and conventional buildings. Our team incorporates a wide range of experience and proficiency and is well placed to offer clients a comprehensive structural engineering service. 

In recent years, BBO’s structural workload has been dominated by two complementary emphases: 

• All aspects of engineering of new bridges and other structures including building foundations, retaining walls, and basements, from the evaluation of alternatives and concept development, through detailed design, to construction oversight.
• Engineering inputs to existing structures, involving inspection and maintenance recommendations, and a range of one-off tasks such as retrofitting and strengthening.

The BBO structural team has proven capability at all stages of projects, from concept development through detailed design and oversight of construction, and also has extensive involvement in the “Principal’s Advisor’ role.  Identification and delivery of client expectations is the central focus at all stages.
