Structural Engineering
BBO’s Structural Engineering team is highly regarded in the delivery of a diverse range of technically challenging projects throughout New Zealand and Asia. The design of bridges and other civil engineering structures is one of BBO’s core business activities and is typically integrated with BBO’s infrastructure and planning resources to provide a seamless service.
Our structural work centres on two main undertakings:

All aspects of engineering of new bridges and other structures including building foundations, retaining walls, and basements, from the evaluation of alternatives and concept development, through detailed design, to construction oversight.

Engineering inputs to existing structures, involving inspection and maintenance recommendations, and a range of one-off tasks such as retrofitting and strengthening.
BBO’s structural engineering involvement is dominated by bridges and wind farm foundations, but also includes industrial structures and conventional buildings. Our team incorporates a wide range of experience and proficiency and is well placed to offer clients a comprehensive service in this field.
Professional affiliations include Engineering New Zealand, The New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering, The New Zealand Geotechnical Society, Heavy Engineering Research Association, Steel Construction New Zealand, The Structural Engineering Society of New Zealand. and a range of other national and international bodies.
