Structural Engineering
The design of bridges and other civil engineering structures is one of BBO’s core business activities. Its structural design team has successfully delivered a diverse range of technically challenging projects throughout New Zealand and Asia.
Structural work centres on two main undertakings:
- The first includes all aspects of engineering of new bridges and other structures including building foundations, retaining walls, and basements, from the evaluation of alternatives and concept development through detailed design to construction oversight.
- The second comprises engineering inputs to existing structures, involving inspection and maintenance recommendations, and a range of one-off tasks such as retrofitting and strengthening.
In both activity groups, structural work is typically integrated with BBO’s infrastructure and planning resources to provide a seamless service.
BBO’s structural engineering involvement is dominated by bridges and wind farm foundations, but also includes industrial structures and conventional buildings.
Our structural engineering team incorporates a wide range of experience and proficiency and offers clients a comprehensive service in this field. Professional affiliations include Engineering New Zealand and a range of other national and international bodies.
